Blazin' American Basketball

Since Clyde "The Glide" Drexler of the Trail Blazers, played the game in front of me, I've been a fan. Something about the town and the people and the history of the team works for me. As Dave McMenamin put it "Portland is the type of team that basketball fans latch onto for the three Cs: character, cap space and ceiling".
One the happiest days for my step father was when Buck Williams came into his bakery and signed a basketball for him.

I played pick-up (scrap ball) in middle and early high school against some guys who went up to the big games. As a young 5' 2" white kid from Washington swamp country, I felt tough to be allowed on the lunch time court in that integrated school. Integrated basically meant white kids, crips, bloods, Ukraine and Vietnamese FOB's.

I took alot of blows to the face but my assist game was fairly sweet and I could hit a jumper if I had to. Free throws being my specialty, I never got to utilize that in these half court scrap games. The rules belonged to the two toughest guys on either team. Anarchic and structured at the same time.

Check out the NEW Trail Blazers.
